2 oz American Osetra Caviar... Need to use ASAP, recipe ideas?!!

I have a 2 oz jar of American Osetra Caviar (Plaza De Caviar Brand) I was given a couple of months ago for a gift that I need to use ASAP, before it expires.

I have only had Caviar once at Cyrus in Healdsburg (It was life changing!) and so I am trying to figure out the best use of it.. wondering if I should do the classic Blini with accompaniments thing, or if it would be better used in a recipe.

For those of you familiar with this type of caviar, I would really appreciate whatever suggestions you have!

Thanks for your help!

I would just eat it! Not in a recipe. I just do capers, minced red onion, tiny squeezes of lemon juice. On Melba toastor or something else plain. I've had that brand and like it fine. Oh, yeah, and a nonmetallic spoon. I could easily sit down with that jar and eat it all by myself in a short amount of time

You hit the nail on the head. No recipe needed, and not a metal spoon.

You could also put them on thin rounds of red potato with a dolop of creme fresh and chive, and a little champagne or proseco.

This is a $75 item, nice gift!!

Ooh, I like your idea also. And I'm always torn between Champagne or martinis :)

I like to make potato "chips" to serve caviar on. You take a white or red potato, and slice into rounds about a 1/4 inch thick. Roast in the oven with a little olive oil until brown and crisp. These are super-tasty as a vehicle to serve caviar, topped with creme fraiche and chives.

OMG, you have just transported my caviar dreams to a new dimension! Now THAT'S what I'd do. 'Course the OP has the caviar and I don't. Boo hoo :)
