Kitschy Sushi- Denver?

e_bone Jul 21, 2009 09:55 PM

The largest of our combo pack twins (nicknamed Slim as opposed to his sister Shady) got the family hooked on a deplorably-addictive online game called "Youda Sushi Chef" where you create a variety of rolls for some impatient patrons. It got him interested in sushi and we thought we'd take him for a family outing tomorrow night. Once he found that not all sushi parlors have a conveyor belt he was stricken. It's humorous- but to his little engineering mind the conveyor belt was WAY more important than the quality of the maguro or whether or not they had Aji or if you had to settle for pickled Saba.

So we thought we'd take him up to the re-born (and close to the house) Sushi Train at Hampden and I-25 because he was enamored of the idea of a train moving around the bar dropping off sushi. I note that for a "re-born" restaurant the "Sushi Train" on their sign looks suspiciously like a "Sushi Boat"... not a harbinger of great fish to come...

Two questions:
1) Has anyone been for beginner sushi at Sushi Train?
2) Are there any other choices in Denver for sushi moving around in a boat, train, strapped to the back of a turtle or God willing... a bloody conveyor belt???
