Does anyone know where I can find fresh fava beans in Charlotte? They're harder to find than I thought. I know some places will special order them, but I need some in the next day or two.

Fava Beans are used to make Falafel, one of my favorites. I don't know that they have fresh fava's but you can try Cedarland Grocery and Restaurant,(704) 535-9662, 4832 Central Ave,Charlotte.

Since I got a question from someone else in another venue (or maybe it was you -- hard to tell from the site names), I doublechecked with Donnie Cline of New Beginning Farm at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market on Saturday. He grew them several years ago and said a couple of other farmers also had tried them. All had given up on them. There simply isn't enough demand for them around here. Other than trying the produce department at Earth Fare, which sometimes gets in unusual things, I don't have any other suggestions.

I've seen them vacuum packed & frozen at Middle East Deli on Independence at the corner of Sharon Amity.

About a month ago I got delicious fava beans at the Charlotte Tailgate Farmer's Market.
