Dessert Ideas?
Hello,
I'm looking for an interesting dessert (no chocolate chip cookies or plain brownies etc) that's fairly fool proof (no macarons) and doesn't require a stand mixer (currently broken. sadness.).
I'm pondering a strawberry almond clafoutis, but I've never made one before, so I thought I'd see if anyone else had ideas. Previously I'd done a chocolate cake that was really a brownie from a mix topped off with rum caramelized bananas and an easy chocolate mousse. Ideally I'd like something a little over the top, but not something that will take HOURS.
Any ideas are welcome, thank you! :D
[this is for a picnic, but i live pretty close to the picnic site, so i have some flexibility there. but nothing that needs to be assembled per person or stay superhot]

My experience is that people love the desserts of their childhood and would rather have them than something exotic that they're not too sure what it is. Example: pineapple upside-down cake. Travels, doesn't need to be refrigerated, is easy to make, looks pretty, tastes good, people love it.

How about a tapioca pudding with coconut milk and some sliced fruit? it is fairly easy with minimal equipment =)
