Anyone know where I can find old school hotdogs. You know the kind in natural casing that just "POP" when you bight in to them?

If you don't mind driving a bit....I think your best bet is The Dog House. It is seven miles from Old Town. The owner grew up at Weiner Factory so he has some idea of what a good hot dog and polish sausage is. Call to see if he has the natural casing you want. They opened up a year ago. I was there soon afterwards and was very happy.

Second that rec for the Dog House. They use Sabrett dogs. Might not be worth an "out of the way" trek, but if you exit the 210 @ Ocean View Blvd, it's a block north at Foothill. My problem is I can't eat just one... :)

And a Third for the Dog House.

Also, you can buy good gourmet dogs from either Bristol Farms or Gelson's.

Ralph's carries them if you want to make your own. They're usually in the meat section near the bacon, not in the hot-dogs-and-cold-cuts area.

Smart & Final has the Hoffy's in the casing in the frozen section. Ralph's has a couple of brands with casings. Trader Joes has Papa Cantella regular & turkey with casing. Cioa Baby!
