Jefferson & Centinela Chinese Delivery

carln Jul 20, 2009 11:52 AM

I know that there isnt much in the way of good chinese food on the westside, but from the available options, which are the best. I have been getting food delivered by Fuji Wok & Sushi but its really not very good and am looking to upgrade. Help!!

Carin - we're in the same 'hood. Basically, no, there's nothing great/memorable that would deliver that I've found, though I've threatened to do a wonton soup taste-off amongst all the dodgy take-out joints in so. Culver City!

Thai Klang Dong up on Sepulveda near Culver is basically Americanized Chinese with Thai influences, and though we've only done pickup from there, they may deliver down to Jefferson. Most of what we've had here has been okay. Swanya Thai a little farther up Sepulveda has a similar menu of mediocre but passable Chinese-Thai fare. They could probably pull off a decent beef with broccoli and sesame chicken.

For more of the real goods (steamed rock cod, roast duck on rice, etc.), you might head up to Hop Woo at Olympic. Those would be my top picks.

Unfortunately you just missed the one better than average west-side Islamic Chinese place called Marlar It closed a few weeks ago only to be replaced what seems to be a vietnamese run Cajun Place called Drunken Crab. We'll check that out eventually. But the only other option I know of which is close to Jefferson and Centinela is Dragon Restaurant in the Ross/Target Plaza off Jefferson. There was a discussion about their orange chicken here:

New Flavors next to Paco's Tacos on Centinela will also deliver to your neck of the woods. The do straight-forward Chinese-American dine-in/take-out/delivery, along with some kinda Hawaiian dishes as well. Nothing earth-shattering, but the food is consistent, the prices are very reasonable, and they almost always beat their ETA.
