I'm trying to find Pattypan squash - they are supposed to be small, baby squash that look like little flying saucers or scallop shells - about 3 or 4 inches (7.5 to 10 cm) across.
I have never seen them for sale anywhere.
They are often available at various locations along Danforth Ave, such as at Fruit King (at Logan) or at Sun Valley, which is a short block east of Carlaw.
You could call "Dave Young" Market on Eglinton Avenue West (west of Avenue Road & East of Spadina Rd.) They are very obliging and might also suggest other places if they don't carry them.
I know I've gotten them at various farmer's markets and (I believe) the produce place in the northeast corner of the South Market at SLM. The farmer's markets tend to sell really, really teeny ones, more along the lines of 1-2 inches across.
The small ones were available outside the north market of SLM this past weekend -the going rate was $3/half pint, $5/pint container
There is an excellent produce market beside Salumeria deli on Yonge, south of Eg. They have local patty pan squash and many other Ontario goodies too.
saw them on saturday at pusateri fruit and veggie market on church.
