MSP- PYO Blueberries

mtullius Jul 20, 2009 09:31 AM

Does anyone have a favorite farm for blueberry picking in the Twin Cities area? We recently discovered Kedem Farm in Hastings for strawberries/raspberries/other fruit (all organic! great stuff!), but they don't have blueberries.... We need for the place to be child-friendly. Suggestions?

Bauer Berry Farm in Champlin has great blueberries. But they don't allow kids under 6.
I picked from them two years ago and plan to go again this week.

Unfortunately, our 9 month old will be going along. Which means no Bauer Berry Farm, or anyone else with such across-the-board anti-child policies....

The best place I've been to, by far, is Rush River Produce in Maiden Rock, WI. It's a bit of a drive, but oh, so worth it! While you're on the way, you can stop in Maiden Rock for bread/cookies/dessert at the Smiling Pelican Bake Shop. It makes a lovely weekend trip!

Agreed--Rush River Produce is the best. Amazing berries, and an incredible view from the fields. Also, very kid friendly--I think they even have a swing or something. Definitely worth the drive.

Maiden Rock is almost 2 hours *one way* for me, so as wonderful as those berries sound, I am very unlikely to make that commute, unfortunately.

The MN Grown directory lets one do a proximity search and select the desired product(s):
