Turning Stone Casino area

jaylhorner Jul 20, 2009 07:14 AM

I'm going to be near the Turning Stone Casino, but prefer to eat elsewhere. Are there any half decent... not necessarily fancy eating establishments.

It's been some years since I've eaten at Colosseo, but I remember it as being ok--not great, but not bad either.
I like the Franklin Hotel in Rome (301 S. James St.)--not much on atmosphere, but the food is good.

Joel's is a good choice for steak....The Savoy in Rome for Italian.

If you can travel, see my post at http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/629812

If not, I'd stay at the Casino for your meal since the restaurants offer good cuisine/service.

Half decent would be Joel's Front Yard, about 5 minutes from Turning Stone, in Verona. OK steakhouse, bar service, long predates the casino. Actually, I'd give it more than half decent, maybe five-eighths decent, or even three-quarters. It's our usual post-casino dinner joint. Several nice places in Rome, including the Savoy (9/10 decent). Coalyard Charlies in Rome is a blast from the past, maybe 3/8 decent. But Rome is at least a half hour from the casino.
