Restaurant Cru - Minneapolis

  • 3

Had a chance to try it out on their 3rd night. The food was fantastic and price appropriately for the northern suburbs. Kept comparing it to the likes of Heartland, Restaurant Alma and 112 Eatery, so it tells you what company we at least thought it was in. That said, it is not surprising as the chef is from Heartland.

It is unique in that beside the Heartland-like, local organic fare, the restaurant also offers a crudo bar. We had the sea bass ceviche and it was quite good.

For dinner we had the Hunter's Plate (duck breast, venison sausage and a rabbit pie) and the scallops with foie gras. Both dishes were fabulous. For dessert we shared a strawberry buckle made with chevre and citrus. Again, fantastic

The restaurant is associated with a local wine shop that features small-scale wineries. They have brought in a number of those wines to the restaurant thus making an impressive wine cellar..

If this restaurant were in downtown Mpls, it would be receiving numerous accolades and attention. Finally, a restaurant in the northern part of town that is worth the drive.

109th & Central in Blaine. Trying to link to a place.

We are going to try it this week. I just hope there is enough demand for this kind of place in the area.
