Louisville & Midwest Beers
Took a road trip from Charlotte NC to Bloomington Il with a stop in Louisville KY last month. I like to stop at decent adult beverage stores when traveling to check out the local brews. I am a big fan of IPAs so with limited room in the van, that is what I shop for and always try to bring a few back home. I like to see if they taste the same on the back porch as they did in the environment where they were made(broadly speaking) and purchased.
The two Louisville brews that I picked up are Sheltowee Hop-A-Lot IPA and Bluegrass Brewing Company's' American Pale Ale. Both are very good, but being an IPA fan the Sheltowee was really the kicker. As good as my current favorite Sweetwater IPA. The BBC was actually a pretty hoppy pale ale.
On to Bloomington and the nearest adult beverage store(Super Walmart???) revealed Schlafly Pale Ale from The St Louis Brewery. And from Chicago Goose Island's Summertime Ale. I have had Goose Island before, but this was the first try of the Summertime which I assume is a seasonal brew. Both were very good and all were just as tasty upon returning home and sipping on the back porch.
There is good beer to be found everywhere. Or in the immortal words of Spenser(R.B.Parker) "The worst beer I ever had was good."
