Seeking a "good" fun place for kids near Times Square.

Hi. I'm being a nice auntie and taking a 4 and a 6 year old to see Shrek on Saturday. We will need to eat beforehand and these kids definitely have a kid's palate: pizza, mac+cheese, noodles, etc. I would, of course, rather eat a fresh organic plate of deliciousness. I really want to take them somewhere fun - but the thought of Mars 2112 turns my stomach. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    1. Thank you for the links, but i already had perused those finding that one of the posts (except one recommending mars 2112) is after the year 2006. i was hoping to get a more up to date list. Thanks in advance.

just figured it was a good place to start as all the places discussed are still open (AFAIK). unfortunately i don't think there's anything new & noteworthy :(

      2. no to mars; try Inakaya. The kids will definitely find this amusing

        1. Virgils BBQ, Tony DiNapoli's, ESPN Zone,

          1. Don't know if they're close enough, but 2 thoughts: 1) fondue at La Bonne Soupe, which is somewhere in the 50s and 2) cook at your table at one of the Korean restaurants along 32nd Street between Broadway and 5th Avenue.

            Good luck.

            1. You may wish to consider Ruby Foos... they've got both american-ized and more sophisticated dishes - and can probably handle the noodles/ fried things pretty well that all kids go for. Being noisy and rather garishly decorated ain't a bad thing either... have taken my son (11) and my niece (5) several times and they always enjoy it. The cocktails ain't bad either, and may stimulate appreciation for the Shrek spectacle : )

I took a 10 yo to Mamma Mia then Vynyl. Have all the kid favs, a fun decor and decent drinks for auntie. AND, cast members of Shrek were actually dining there after the matinee.
