romantic dinner outside Providence: Blackington Inn, DeWolfe Tavern, Little Inn?

We wanted to try something new outside of Providence for my birthday, within a 30 minute drive since we have a long trip the following day. Considering DeWolfe Tavern in Bristol, Blackington Inn in Attleboro, Little Inn in Johnston, Cafe Itri in Cranston. Open to any suggestions, but would like gourmet food in a romantic setting.

Caffe itri has just opened probably the most romantic tuscan style outdoor patio anywhere!! breathtaking i promise!!! dont miss out! you will think you are dining in Italy for sure! and the food is always fantastic! i have dined there for the past 19 years. the win list is superb and extremely reasonable. they have award winning food and wine, ENJOY!!!

Sweet. I didn't know about this new patio. Thanks for the tip!

You might try The Remington Inn, in Warwick.

Is that a good or a bad thing on chowhound?

The Siena in East Greenwich is nice. Obviously Castle Hill, maybe a little further than you had in mind. D Carlo Trattoria in Smithfield is supposed to be good. It has been at least fifteen years since I have been to Little Inn, but if memory serves me, it was a wonderful, romantic dinner...

Thanks Sean. Castle Hill is on our list, but it is a little far that evening, since we have a long drive the next day. I have heard good things about D Carlo, but that it was not romantic, more of a casual place with friends...

I don't think you would be disappointed with the Blackinton Inn. It is a very pretty place and the food is wonderful.

              Hi,

Try Broadway Bistro its cozy nice food. Too bad the drive is a few min longer is the Inn at Castle Hill. The above places you wrote are not romantic in anyway and the food is just ok. IMHO.

              Enjoy where ever you choose.

Thank you for the replies. I thought about Cafe Itri, but I didn't think it fit the intimate atmosphere bill, although I have never been there. We went to Broadway Bistro for my husband's birthday, and were disappointed--nice casual, not outstanding food. We may just return to my favorite in town, Chez Pascal...

Chez Pascal is also my favorite in RI, but you think it's romantic? To me, it's just bistro-y...

I'm a big fan of Caffe Itri. The food is wonderful, the wine list is extensive and cheaply-fairly priced and the service has always been stellar. That said, I don't find it the least bit romantic (bright lights, garish furniture), so it may not be what you're looking for.

Of the ones you listed, i have only been to DeWolfe and would highly recommend it. The food is great and i love the atmosphere of the old brick building. They have a few tables outside which could be nice for your birthday

We have been there already, although our experience was not as good as the reviews on this board.

god, thank you! all i hear is praise for that place, we went and (foolishly) ordered a tasting for my last birthday and were very disappointed. i guess we can't go anywhere after chez pascal, new rivers and our first love, gracie's.
