Best Ice Cream on the Peninsula?

I can't get to Bi-Rite to get their salted caramel ice cream, so does anyone have an alternative on the Peninsula for delicous, homemade ice cream to take out? Thanks for your opinions...

If you want to venture to the south bay, give the Willow Glen Yogurt Company a shot. They typically have a bunch of home made ice cream

I've been wondering about good ice cream places in the South Bay. Lately I'm looking for anyone who makes root beer ice cream. I know Dreyer's has a limited edition root bear float flavor but haven't tried it.

Check out Cowabunga Creamery in San Carlos. They get theirs from Marianna's (spelling?) in Santa Cruz. Pretty good, IMHO...

There is a place in San Mateo called Clear Optometry which has great frozen yogurt, but also has ice cream from Ici and Marco Polo Gelato. The place is also an Optometry place which gives it a very unusual twist.

Obviously that's why they stock Ici (I See) but why Marco Polo?

Probably because of the Asian flavor factor.

But just around the corner is the frozen yogurt shop Tuttimelon. Most locations have gelato as well, and include Marco Polo like Asian flavors like black sesame or green tea.

There's no ice cream in that category down the peninsula - I beg to be contradicted, but I think I'd know about it.

yeah there really isn't...but I go to Preston's Ice Cream on Broadway in Burlingame. They used to make homemade ice cream but they outsource it to a place in LA now, but they follow their recipes exactly and I can't tell the difference.

their chocolate shower is really really good, but you won't find any salted caramel and secret breakfast type flavors here

I have a sweet spot for Fraiche in Palo Alto, and do go there. It's not ice cream, but it is very, very good.
