Revere Beach Good Eats?

MaggieCat Jul 16, 2009 03:42 PM

Going with friends to the Revere Beach Sand Sculpting Festival this weekend and wondering where to get a good lunch. Will be on the T, so can't wander beyond walking distance from the Revere Beach T station. I have lived in Boston for a few years now, but have never been to Revere Beach before. I guess I'm more of a south-of-the-city kind of girl (live in Dot). Are there good clam shacks similar to Wollaston beach? I love fried clams. If so, which places are best? Is Kelly's the unanimous choice in that area and is it walking distance of Revere Beach T ? (looked closer to Wonderland on the map.)

Floating Rock is fab. Order Tiger's Tears beef salad.

Get a lobster roll at Kelly's and eat it on the beach. That's what I'm planning!

Keep a tight grip on that lobster roll. I've witnessed more than one being lifted away by an alert gull.

Yeah, I think you want a lobster roll from Kelly's with a cup of clam chowder (though i know they don't have the chowder available during one season --is it summer or is it winter? not sure)...Regardless, eat it on the beach wall and enjoy a true taste of New England. Afterwards you can go to Kelly's Kreme (just down the street from Kelly's) for some really good soft serve ice cream.
If you're looking for a snack later in the day, grab a slice from Bianchi's. Really good NY-style pizza, down the street (the other way) from Kelly's.
Hounds always have good things to say about Floating Rock, but I think that is a bit of a walk away from the main drag (where the beach/sandcastles are.) Others can comment on that though.

I would also grab a slice of pizza from Bianchi's but I would have to disagree with the "really good NY-style pizza" comment. That's like saying that the Red Sox are a really good Yankee style baseball team. Bianchi's is a really good Revere style pizza.

Kelly's is a pretty good walk from Revere Beach Station. I've also found their food to be very underseasoned.

Floating Rock or Tacos Lupita on Shirley Ave are probably best bets for food, but the neighborhood is less than picturesque.
