Food Gifts from the area

Just moved to D.C. and looking for omiyagi, small gifts to take home to family in Hawaii. What are some regional food favorites that would be easy to pack?

Looking for Pub's Virginia peanuts, does anyone know where they can be purchased in the D.C. area?

These might be what you're looking for http://www.thepeanutshop.com/ they are wonderful and are available in may liquor stores. Worth taking home. Check with the airline and see about taking back some fresh jumbo lump MD crabmeat and softshells (can pack in a boxed cooler with icepacks, not sure about dry ice on the plane)

Hi - do you mean HUBS peanuts? IMHO, they are Virginia's best kept secret! I get mine from Rick's Wine and Gourmet Shop in Alexandria, VA

There's a Virginia-centered store in Old Town: http://www.thevirginiashop.com/main.html. The store had Virginia peanuts the las t time I was there, but not sure if they were the brand you are looking for. We have brought Berger Cookies (MD fave) with us when visiting friends and relatives, and we've always had good responses. I've also brought them Firehook's (VA bakery) Presidential, Sweet Dreams, and Espresso cookies.

I've always heard Spam is oddly popular in HI, would scrapple be an interesting alternative?

I'd refer to this thread, for one thing:

Route 11 chips would be another from VA, though they'd be fragile of course. And from the first - Old Bay, but I'm wondering if that's available anymore in HI.
