Looking for coconut brownies in L.A.

Woolsey Jul 16, 2009 02:56 PM

We have a coworker's birthday coming up, and this person's favorite dessert is coconut brownies. I don't know where in town I can find them, though. Does anyone know what bakery might sell them? If worse comes worst, I can probably substitute Buttercake's dream bars, but we want to give this person what he likes.

Thanks in advance!

Big Sugar in Studio City makes great brownies, and would probably make you some coconut ones. Or some coconut cheesecake brownies. Give them a call.

I did call just now, and they won't make them. Thanks for the tip, though; others have brought their stuff to work, and it's good.

Try asking for Lisa or Mary at Big Sugar. I'm sure they'll be happy to accomodate if they can, they already make a cream cheese brownie and it would probably just mean a little less cream cheese, and some coconut swirled in. Has the co-worker DESCRIBED the coconut brownie to you? If it's just a brownie with coconut mixed in, Big Sugar is your place. Even something more complicated they'd probably be happy to talk to you about. Give them another try! You might have just gotten a counter girl.

Big Sugar has a seven layer bar with coconut, nuts, choco chips, it is really something special!
