Checkout Thurston's Lobster Pound in Tremont, southwest of Bar Harbor - the best lobster shack in Maine

While I haven't been there for a couple of years, we had an excellent meal, great flavors, innovative cooking, at The Riverside Inn in E. Machias: should be right on your way!

I posted this elsewhere, but don't want it missed. I had the worst pricey meal of my life at The Riverside. The ambience is fabulous, but the fish was very overdone, the pork was chewy, and the cake was so stale it must have been stale for days. Go to the Homeport in Lubec in you want a good meal. Their food is reliably excellent.

Yikes, sorry to hear it. I wonder if the chef has changed.....

We stayed in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, last week at the Rossmount Inn and had some of the best food we've ever had in the northeast in their dining room. Exquisitely prepared and presented, fresh local ingredients, ample portions, and very well priced. The chef owner and his wife are originally from Switzerland, where he received his training. I wish I lived closer to this place. I'd go all the time.

While I'm still wondering if you're coming the coastal or inland route, should you take the coast road, I'd definitely add Silver Lane Bistro, Route 1 in Warren: www.silverlanebistro.com
