Bargain Tequila - Cambridge Wine Fresh Pond

StriperGuy Jul 16, 2009 11:47 AM

Couple of real bargains:

El Jimador Reposado 100% Agave (not the crappy mixto they had been making) for $29 for 1.75L. Super bargain for a pretty decent tequila. Not a fine sipping tequila but if you consider that the same size bottle of Sauza Hornitos is $45, this is the steal of the century. Certainly a worthy margarita tequila.

They also had Tenampa Azul Reposado 100% Agave for $18 for 750ml which I can't vouch for, but still a steal for 100% Agave.

Thanks for the tip! In general I've been pretty impressed with Cambridge Wine's prices for spirits...e.g., the other day I picked up a bottle of Old Overholt rye (which is admittedly not hugely expensive to begin with) there for $12, which is significantly cheaper than I've seen elsewhere in Cambridge or Somerville.

Off the Tequila topic, but Old Overholt is also $10 at Martignetti Liquors in Brighton.

Wow, nice find. On a recent trip to Dallas, I had El Jimador Reposado in some of the best margaritas I've had in ages (at least I think I did, memory is oddly fuzzy...). If I weren't about to move to the Southwest, I'd buy a couple of bottles.

Sorry to hear you're moving, finlero - your observations on Cambridge and Somerville have been invaluable.

Sorry to be leaving, but excited for the adventure (and some weather that doesn't look like this past June here). If you find yourself passing through New Mexico, look me up and we'll go out for some killer green chile enchiladas...
