Pizza with Egg, Ham, Bacon, Sausage, or Chorizo w/ Egg

JeetJet Jul 16, 2009 11:42 AM

Last week I was making a special order for a “thin crust charred cheese pizza” at Lamp Post and began talking to the crew about my not ever seeing eggs offered as a topping in the L.A. area. Eggs on pizza is offered in N.Y. and although I have never been to Australia I recall reading someplace that eggs are a very popular pizza topping there. The Lamp Post crew told me that they do that as a special on Saturday mornings. I haven’t tried it yet and I am not sure whether they offer it every Saturday morning. They also said they will make it as you wish adding ham, bacon, sausage or chorizo w/ eggs – Breakfast on a pizza. I will try this soon and I might even make a special request for a grilled veggie omelet pizza with a thin crust Are there any other egg topped pizzas in L.A.?

UPDATE. I went to Lamp Post Pizza in El Monte today and learned that they do not make a breaskfast pizza that they offer to the public. When the employee told me that they make it on Saturday ,morning he assumed I understood that they do not open until 11:00 am and that he was talking about what the employees make to eat for breakfast as they ready the place to open They do offer a chorizo pizza but not with egg. .

Still I am glad I made the post because of all the list of places to try a breakfast pizza which resulted. That pic Servorg lposted is what I kinda what I saw in N.Y..-- looks so good. Thanks to you all.

I was asked once, "whats your culinary philosophy?", "anything fried or with a runny egg on it is good!".

Robano's in Toluca Lake has a breakfast pizza, can't vouch for it however. their regular pizza is pretty decent, and their courtyard is a pretty great place to watch football games, if you are in to that sort of thing.

Little Dom's on Hillhurt in Los Feliz has a very good breakfast pizza. You can also "build your own". And they have a fabulous bloody mary!

FWIW, Whole Foods has pizza with eggs, bacon, sausage on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I have yet to try it.

26 Beach has a breakfast pizza with either ham or bacon. They used to make a chorizo pizza, not sure if it still on the menu. www.26beach.com

Spago inside Gelson's has a breakfast pizza now and again.

Bourek can be like an egg pizza. Try Big Momma and Big Poppa's or Moishe's.

Mozza has a pizza with egg on it.

Yum! The ones in the San Fernando Valley make them too!

ONe is enough for three meals!

Whoa, that looks great! (Thanks for the pic, Servorg.) Where are the stores in the SFV? Any in the west valley -- e.g., Woodland Hills, Canoga Park, like that?

I've seen them in North Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Studio City. I think Woodland Hills or Tarzana, Van Nuys maybe.

I just ate at the Big Mama's in North Hollywood about two months ago and got the khachapouri for the first time. It's located on Lankershim a couple of blocks north of Skinny's. Skinny's is a bar that plays live music but serves no food. Some friends were playing there and since I was early I was looking for food. It's a big meal.

Pizza Land on Laurel Canyon also makes those. Ive never tried them though, something about an egg on my pizza just doesn't sound quite right. But I've seen quite a few people order them.
