Help

Mother-in -Law birthday on Sunday and we're looking for a spot with good food that can handle the following:

-My two in-laws two kids who are 2 and 7 yo, generally well behaved
-My Mother-in-Law, can be particular and service needs to be good and attentive
-Some place without a ton of background noise as a 100 yo grandmother will be there and she's a little hard of hearing

Places we have had success with at home in the city are:

Noodle Pudding
Henry's End
Primavera
Payard
Candle Cafe
B Cafe
Craft

I give these places as reference for the type of food, so no burgers, etc.

I just need to find some decent grub in a casual environment that has good service....someone show me some love....please....thanks

  1. best location is gorgeous tree lined and classic globe lanterns marching down Bronxville's "main street" of Pondfield Road

best fun and 'southern' food; The Bayou Restaurant located at 580 Gramatan Ave, Mount Vernon, NY 10552. "Check out The Bayou's cajun cuisine, our nightly live music and entertainment, our collection of hot sauces for sale, and our special events listings."

elegant, lovely river spot, delicious; Harvest on Hudson, Mediterranean cuisine, located at 1 River Street in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY 10706. "Overlooking the Hudson River and the Palisades, our Tuscan Farmhouse is one of the most beautiful restaurants in the New York Area. Garden and patio dining, sunset views, a comfortable lounge and a 30-foot high stone fireplace .

fun, on the beach, great summer dining; Seaside Johnnies is located at 94 Dearborn Ave, Rye, New York at Oakland Beach.

best value steak and every other kind of food is Outback, multiple locations; excellent quality food always as they get it new daily private delivery every day 6am, yummy ahi tuna dish, and everything is made fresh fresh fresh; like the baked potatoes are rolled in sea salt to draw out the starch, all the fries are fresh cut, all sauces hand made etc.

extensive wide variety of places in and around Mamaroneck Ave in White Plains, NY; good people watching, fun and casual; also chain eateries like Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Changs, Legal Seafood etc.

best elegant italian; Mulino's of Westchester, serving Northern Italian cuisine, is located at 99 Court Street, White Plains, NY 10601; amazing Italian, not casual though!

While I have not been in years, The Bayou Restaurant is not the place for a 100 year old Grand-Ma.

chuckle...hey, if she's still spunky enough to eat out, youngsters and all, assume nothing; hope to be just like her!

Neither is Seaside Johnnies, not for the crowd the OP mentioned. I would forget the chains also and Mulino's has to many stairs as I remember. I would think you would want something with easy access. I do agree with Harvest on Hudson (beautiful setting, easy access).... http://www.harvest2000.com/hoh/ or Red Hat Bistro in Irivington.... http://www.redhatbistro.com/ or Tramonto in Hawthorn, it doesn't have the view as the other two but very good service and good food and easy access..... http://www.tramontos.com/

        2. Where in Westchester are you looking?

When you described what you need I thought of Woody's on Main in Mount Kisco. Good service, pleasant food and surroundings. Noise level fairly low.

          2. Ruby's in Rye, might fit the bill. It can get noisy later in the evening, earlier could work.

Food is good. Agree the later it gets, the fuller it get, the noisier it gets.
BTB-The Chef there is the original chef from The Bayou Restaurant.

            2. Try Umami in Croton. It opens at 1 p.m. on Sundays (otherwise it opens at 5).

Very family friendly place. Good food.

              2. Sammy's Downtown in Bronxville would be good. I know they don't have highchairs for the little one but service is on key and the food is good. They are used to people eho need extra attention and can be particular... I go there whenever I can. Good luck!

                1. So Red hat and Harvest on Hudson seem to fit the bill.

Stairs and noise are the only issues....the 100 yo is sharp as a tack, just not as mobile as a 30 yo and a bit harder of hearing.

                  Thanks for all the suggestions.

                  1. I suggest Le Provencal in Mamaroneck. We were there for Mother'sDay, and it was lovely. Service was attentive to please the MIL. It's not too noisy for Grandma. And the food is very good. My 5 and 8 year old children enjoyed it too.

But I love Harvest too. Benefit of Harvest is the little park which is adjacent. After you place the order, and while you wait for the food, you can take the children over to the park and have them run wind sprints to get them tired enough to sit down at lunch.

Have to wonder if we were there at the same time ;>)
My Mom enjoys it for some special days as well.
Nice, but not too over the top so kids will fit in.
