North County San Diego Top Eats

Seeking great restaurants and menu reccomendations in Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar, and La Jolla. Casual to gourmet, I don't care, as long as it makes me go "yum".

Encinitas/Leucadia: Yu Me Ya (izakaya style Japanese; arguably the best in the county); La Jolla: a lot of good choices, but my favorite is Nine-Ten. Also, A.R. Valentien at The Lodge on Torrey Pines is spoken about very well although I've not been myself. Cavaillon is one of the best restaurants in North County, but it's more inland and it appears you're looking for coastal suggestions. Have fun, that's a great route!

    1246 N Coast Highway 101, Encinitas, CA 92024

    Cavaillon Restaurant
14701 Via Bettona, Suite 200, San Diego, CA 92127

    Nine Ten
910 Prospect Street, La Jolla, CA 92037

    A R Valentien

...and may I add to Daantaat's exceptional list: Via Italia in Encinitas...and solely for the pizza, if nothing else. That thin, crispy crust and the savory, tangy tomato sauce on the salsiccia pizza is molto bene.

For thin piza in Encinitas go to Pizzicato

Chef Hageman just left Blanca. I would wait a little bit before going there.

How did you find out that Chef Hageman left?

I heard it from a few people some time ago that he is planning to leave. In addition, I read it somewhere (forgot on which page) more recently.

Great experience: Artisan table (single menu, communal dining on the terrace) Thursdays at A R Valentien, the Lodge at Torrey Pines. View of Torrey Pines Golf Course and the Pacific.
