Really good 'Ethnic' food near theater?

Hi all! I am looking for a great place for dinner before an 8pm Saturday show. After going around and around in my head (lol!), I have decided against a super-expensive & fancy meal. My husband and I love 'different' kinds of cuisine that we never get at home. We have lots of Italian, American, Mexican, French, Japanese & Chinese locally. I was thinking maybe Greek, Turkish, Spanish, Indian, etc. We are open to new/different things as well. I would think that we would try for a 5:30 reservation somewhere close enough to the theater district. Any ideas? Thanks sooooooooo much!

Akdeniz, Szechuan Gourmet and Kashkaval are all relatively close to the Theater District. If you're going to take a cab just to have Indian food, you'd be better off going to Earthen Oven than trying to book it from the East Side.

I know, there really isn't a good definition for ethnic food. That's why I put quotes around it! I wasn't sure what word to use to describe my request, but I figured you all would get the gist of what I meant:)

Kellari Taverna, on 44th St., b/t 5th & 6th Avs., for excellent Greek food with an emphasis on fish.
