Exotic food in the Mid-South

I'm looking for some interesting and quality restaurants in the Memphis/Mid-South area. Specifically, I'm interested in finding a place that serves alligator (deep fried, anyone?) and other exotic fare. Some high-quality (a requirement!) and bizarre food cooked in a nice enough restaurant so I can trust that the drive would be worth it is what I'm looking for. If such a place exists, I'd definitely travel an hour or two to get to such a restaurant. Anyone know of a place like this?

I have not eaten at this place, however, it received rave customer reviews. It is called Cayenne Moon in Memphis. Cajun-style food. Here is a link to their menu:

Cayenne Moon is gone. The owner passed away. If you're looking for game in a nice restaurant, take a look at the menu for Erling Jensen. http://www.ejensen.com/

What other sort of food would you consider bizarre or exotic?

Other than game meat, I would love to venture out from my "comfort zone" and try offal. I've been inspired by Top Chef Masters! Heart and tongue are pretty exotic to me! And thanks for the suggestion!!!
