Butterfield 8 - Stamford

I went to Butterfield 8 on bedford the other night and it was pretty bad in an odd way. When I first started eating i thought the food was ok - by the middle i wasnt sure and after I left i hated it. We started with the Kobe Beef Sliders which were tasteless. The thai ketchup tasted like regular ketchup to me and didnt really add anything. No onions, no pickles no nothing with the sliders. We also tried the steak sandwich and grilled chicken sandwich. The bread on both dominated the sandwiches, to the point where you could taste nothing but the bread. Also, the steak sandwich had a fancier version of the Philadelphia cheese sauce on it, but it came really thick and had no flavor. Wasabi mashed potatoes had no wasabi flavor, and the french fries tasted like they had hidden valley ranch on it.

On a positive note, service was really good, the space is nice, and the bar is big, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. While I think they have a good menu and concept, the execution is missing. Perhaps they can work this out, and I would consider giving it another try in a future date.

  1. I had a great dinner at Butterfield 8, I too had the Kobe Sliders which were awesome. The Sea Scallops dish was also packed with flavor. I think maybe you just had a bad night there. I love this place. I would definitly give it another chance. Did you have the dessert cookie smash? It is one of the best desserts I have ever had.

I'm with Alex on the Kobe Sliders... rather tasteless and way too much bun. Though the bun was tasty... it buried the burger.

Good space. Terrific service. And attractive, vibrant crowd.

Hope they make it on the wrong side of Bedford. But as a club-eatery, B-8 is not close to g/r/a/n/d.

Anyone tried 84 West Park -- bon jovi's brother's place?
