Road Trip Ocala to Sarasota

Hi folks,

My best friend and I are taking a road trip from Ocala to Sarasota in August to visit family and find fun. We are in search of anything awesome and delicious along the way - we are both hardcore foodies from NYC and Philly, but we love everything from hole-in-the-wall ethnic food to Masa. Love to hear your suggestions!

    1. About half a mile west off of Interstate 75 at the Ellenton exit is Hickory Hollow BBQ. The que is Carolina style but their sides, usually 20 or more, are definitely southern style. Be careful as they are usually only open Thursday through Sunday each week so it might be prudent to call first.

        1. You could divert down 275 and take in Yummy House or China Huan, or La Casona for Puerto Rican. Or just a little west of 75 you could shoot over to Mel's for hot dogs

            1. if you type in Sarasota in the search box you will come up with many posts! Enjoy!

                1. Lunch on Limoges is charming and delicious (was written up in Southern Living magazine back in the 90's). It's about 60 miles south of Ocala (10 miles west of I-75 in Dade City). It's on a really cute town square with lots of little antique stores, gift shops and galleries.
