Saturday Lunch in Rancho Bernardo

My husband and I are having lunch with an elderly aunt on Saturday. She lives in Rancho Bernardo. I am looking for a pleasant place where we can have a decent lunch and chat (we haven't seen her for almost 10 years). We will be driving back and forth from Los Angeles on Saturday (too much driving) - so we'd like to stay in Rancho Bernardo. Have done some research - and so far it seems like the French Market Grille (about 2.5 miles from her house) would be about the best. Any other ideas?

El Bizcocho at Rancho Bernardo Inn is really excellent. http://www.ranchobernardoinn.com/bizc...

It isn't open for lunch. How is the Veranda (casual restaurant open for lunch at the same resort - menu looks ok)?

It should be; food comes from the same kitchen.

It's only 1.5 miles from my aunt's house - and there's a pro shop where I can look at golf clothes :). Sold.

My wife and I have been to El Bizcocho for Sunday brunch, which was excellent. RB is "old school" country club atmosphere. Service was excellent and the grounds are quite beautiful. I'm sure that you and your aunt will have a great time.

Better food and pro shop at Maderas country club about a mile up the road. Here's the menu

Thanks. I'll ask my aunt what she likes. She's lived in the area for a long time - and - before my uncle got Alzheimer's and she got cancer - they used to go out quite a bit.
