Special B-day Dinner (Gilbert/Chandler/Mesa)
I'm looking for an interesting restaurant in the Gilbert/Chandler/Mesa area for my birthday on Sunday. I'm having my husband take me to Udder Delights for dessert, so I was hoping for a fun restaurant on that side of town. Any type of food is good, and it doesn't need to be an expensive place (but it could be!), just really good, interesting food. If all else fails, we'll go to Liberty Market because I love it.
Thanks for the recommendations!
My favorite place for a special occasion dinner in the CHandler area is Kai at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass. It's not inexpensive but the food is delicious and the service impeccable. Always a wonderful evening.
If that's outside of your budget or not the type of experience you are looking for, I agree the options in Downtown Chandler might serve you well. I particularly like La Stalla and Latitude 8 myself out of the options available.
Also, it's a chain but we've never had a bad experience at he Roy's in CHandler. I love fish and there are few options around here for a higher end (or lower end for that matter) quality fish dinner. We've never been disappointed at Roy's however and I would recommend this location in spite of the chain affiliation.
If you don't mind traveling to downtown Tempe, you might consider House of Tricks as well. Unfortunately the weather won't permit enjoying their wonderful patio but you'll still enjoy dinner very much indoors.
Lastly, I enjoyed my free birthday dinner at Joe's BBQ last month. Didn't want anything fancy, went with a few friends and hubby, sat outside and had a great evening. Just show ID.

I think Udder Delights is at Val Vista and Warner so hmm... I'd say Downtown Chandler is your best bet, there's La Stalla, Sushi Eye, Latitude 8 and 98 South to choose from. If you want something really special (and $$$$), there's Cork at Alma School and Chandler Heights, lots of in depth reviews and good words on this board. Oh, and really close to UD would be La Calabria at Ray and Val Vista, for authentic Italian.
Happy BDay! My bday was last week and I made my hubby take me to, count em, 6 different places. Coffee, farmer's market, brunch, happy hour, dinner and ice cream. I told him that's what I want to do every day when we retire. Plus some home cooking thrown in:) Enjoy your special day!!
