pop up message won't stop

  • 9

For the past week I have been getting a pop up message everytime I log on, open a message, go back to the board message listing. The pop up is titled Security Warning and asks " do you want to installl Adobe Flash Player installer." I click no each time and it goes away until I go back to the message listings and it pops up again. Click no again and it goes away until I open a new message and it pops up again. I suppose if I clicked yes it would go away, but I don't feel I should have to.

It does not happen on any ohter site. Any idea on how I can stop this from happening?

  1. Not this annoying message, but the damn survey popup that occurs when I am moving from message to message or message back to board. Extremely annoying. I filled out one of the damn surveys a couple of weeks ago. I paid my dues. Dump this.

This is a credit card survey. What does that have to do with chowhound? It pops up continuously.

We're not running any pop-up surveys at the moment that we're aware of. Can you let us know what the ad says specifically, what page it leads to, or if it as an "advertisement" link on it, can you use that to report it as broken to our ad ops team?

There has very frequently been something trying to pop something up on Chowhound, but it happens just as I am closing the page, and my ad-blocker blocks it, again, in the half-second or so that the page is closing, so it's too fast for me to be able to see what ad it is.

I have to ok pop-ups to use chowhound. what ad blocker?

It's built in to my browser- Camino 1.6.8

I can't imagine why you'd need to OK popups to use Chowhound. I don't think I've ever seen that sort of message and I don't think there's any content that shows up in a popup... although maybe I just haven't SEEN that content :-)

i was using IE6, no longer -- pop up stopper is in use and this thing still keeps coming.
