HOU - Anvil Bar and "Refuge" - Info please?
Someone mentioned this place (which I had not heard of before) might be offering cask-conditioned ale at times.
Can I ask for any updated information on that anyone may have who has visited or who knows more about it? Their web site is fairly brief.
Thanks in advance. Finding (drinkable) cask ale in Houston has been a long time quest!
This is definitely not your standard place from that link. My interest is piqued.
Shame it's not open afternoons when I prefer to do a few pints in my rapid onset old age. But I will try them at some stage all the same. I like places which are this edgy and willing to go their own way at full throttle.
Folks just wanted to chime in to give yall the official 411 on cask. I gravity tap a cask about once a month at Anvil. Gravity tapping simply means tossing a cask up on the bar top and pouring it out old school style. We are working toward a cask engine in the next few months. Once the engine is up and running I have a plan on how to bring in crazy one off caskes from across the county. Any more question about Anvil’s beer program feel free to email me Kevin@drinkdogma.com
Anvil Bar just got Real Ale's cask conditioned Lost Gold IPA - I was there for the tapping at 5 pm sharp last saturday. Petrol Station Coffeehouse will also have some, but either way, the cask is gonna go fast, act quickly.
All (12 i think?) of their taps are craft brews which rotate frequently. And be warned that parking there can be pretty stressful. I'll have a much more lengthier and detailed thread up later since I've got a ton of impressions throughout the past weekend.
