best lemon bars?

Recently had an excellent lemon square at Coffee-A-Deli on Lamar, about a half mile north of Braker. It's in the same center as Ross' Old Austin Cafe. They also had lime squares which had more of tart crust, with almonds.

  1. Love the lemon bars at WF when they have them-- nice and sour-sweet, though sometimes with an overkill on the powdered sugar. Sweetish Hill's are interesting; they seem to vary almost daily in terms of tartness, but they can approach greatness. Walton's are more egg than lemon, but probably the cheapest of the lot. When I'm next in north Austin, I'll have to give Cafe-A-Deli a try.

Coffe-A-Deli, my mistake. Regardless, thanks for the heads up.

        Two corrections/updates:
        (1) The lime squares have a pecan crust.
        (2) Coffee-A-Deli will be closed on Sundays instead of Mondays.
I almost called it "Cafe-A-Deli", too. Maybe we should tell them to change the name!

I remember getting nice lemon bars from Sweetish Hill.

    2. They're closed on Mondays for now.

      1. Best lemon bars? The ones my wife makes.
