50th & Broadway - drinks/light fare with efficient service

uwsgrazer Jul 12, 2009 09:35 AM

A friend and I will see a play during the week and want to get a quick bite afterwards. Time will be around 9:30-ish. The place should have good service and with a noise level low enough to allow for easy conversation; ability to make reservations would be a plus. The closer to 50th & Broadway the better. Price not an issue. Doesn't have to be fancy, but also shouldn't be a dive. (My friend is in his 60s and retired after a successful career.) Maybe Insieme would fit the bill? I've only been once but wasn't so focused on service.

Thanks in advance for ideas.

Trattoria Trecolori, on 47th, b/t B'way & 8th, has very tasty food, efficient service, well-spaced tables, and attractive decor.

Maze at the London, on 54th, b/t 6th & 7th, is more upscale but casual. Superb cuisine, excellent service, and very pleasant, comfortable atmospherics.

    Both restaurants accept reservations.

I don't know if this is too dated but Milos is very good too. Service is excellent and if they convince you to try the Ice Wine between courses go for it!
