You can get most of your Malaysian groceries at Hong Kong Supermarket or Asia Market. Halal Malaysian is a little harder to find, though you might have luck asking your question on the Outer Boroughs board.

the grocery store on Mulberry Street, between Bayard and Mott (closer to bayard, on the right-hand side of the street if you are walking south) has a lot of SE asian groceries and dry goods; you can also try Bangkok Food Centre on Mosco Street.

the name/address of the mulberry place is:
Asia Market Corporation
71-1/2 Mulberry Street
NY, NY 10013
212.962.2028
the place is bigger than it looks from the outside and has sooo much stuff; I picked up some canned fruit, a dried block of belachan, sambal udang (chanhong brand); they have tons of raw/fried krupek, lotta dried noodles, and frozen pandan leaves!

As long as you're near Mulberry, you may want to check out this little place which sells SE Asian groceries (Thai, Vietnamese, etc.), on Mosco (a small, downhill street), between Mott Street and Mulberry Street. If you're on Mott, just ask for the Transfiguration Catholic Church or Hop Kee, and it's down the hill. If you're on Mulberry, look for the Chinese funeral homes. It's up the hill.

address of that joint (btw, you may be tempted but skip the fried dumpling joint right near it, not worth it).
104 Mosco St, New York, NY 10013

Thanks for looking it up. When I walked by a couple of days ago, it was closed, so I couldn't check to see if they actually had Malaysian stuff...

that'll be your best chance unless you post something under "tristate region" "outer boroughs" with WESTCHESTER in the title or something like that.
found this looking under yelp:
3) Westchester County - a lil more pricier but u got a) Thai Grocery right by the NYS thruway a block from Yonkers Ave, b) Asian Supermarkt on Central Pk Ave in Hartsdale next to Calif Pizza Kitchen, c) Asian Supermarket on Hamilton Ave right by the DMV in White Plains.

Hello Yasmien, you can get Malaysian Groceries online also lah. Go to asiansupermarket365.com and grocerythai.com. The first one offers lots of authentic spices paste and many other Malaysians favourites. The Thai Grocery sells fresh lemon grass, kaffir leaves, belacan, pandan paste and udang kering. If I were not mistaken, they sell fresh pandan leaves as well. If you want to plant yourself, go to Gardino nursery. They sell live pandan tree. oh yes, dont forget to send me some Malaysian cakes and cookies you bake to me. I pon kempunan tapi no time to bake. hehehe
