Hi all,

I am looking for recommendations in Hampshire for an impromptu visit out for lunch, I am based in the centre of the county and happy to travel up to an hour, but avoiding London, so within the county or west please. Current thoughts are Harrow at Little Bedwyn, Red Lion Freehouse or Le Poussin in Brockenhurst.

Thanks for any help

I like the "Red Lion"; lots of talent in the kitchen and exceptional value given the standard of the food. My one niggle was the service, but hopefully that has bedded down.

I did indeed end up at the red lion, excellent food again, home cured bresaola with mozarella and figs, guinea fowl with north african cous cous and aubergine and chocolate mousse with raspberries, girlfriend had gazpacho with crb and shrimp and very good value rolled belly pork and chips.
Still a little work needed on service.

Worth the forty five minute drive that's for sure

Stan - looks like a menu change. This is the pub in East Chisenbury? Maybe worth a return visit.

          Phil,

Yes the pub in East Chisenbury, the Pork, Bresaola and Gazpacho were off the specials, the guinea fowl was off standard. I think they change menu pretty regularly, there were certainly some new wines on their list too I thought.
