Bulk Almond Flour?

I am looking for bulk almond flour or almond meal somewhere in LA - or just really cheap. The store near me sells it for $10/lb but I need a lot of it.

Alternatively, if anyone knows where I can buy bulk (preferably blanched) and unsalted almonds, that would work as well.

Do you know how much a 25lb box costs?

      2. Ballou Family Farms from Kern County come down to some of the farmers' markets -- Irvine for sure -- and I'm sure they could hook you up.

Out of curiosity, what for all the almond meal? Are you making a kransekage?

i'm taking a wild guess that this is for macarons. the tj almond meal is not blanched, and while it works for macs, the end result is more "freckled" than most bakers would be happy with. since almond flour is pretty perishable, i doubt that you will find 25 lb bags in stock anywhere around. probably have to order from a baker's supply house or direct from a mill. i bet there is someplace in central ca...with all those almond groves we drive through on the way to sacto.
here's a link to a place (untried by me) that sells 25 lb bags for $105. not terrible, when the site quotes a $4.99 shipping price for anything...good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I didn't need 25 pounds, only five but I am working on a very limited budget for a party. I ended up buying some cheap almond and blanching, peeling and grinding them myself. It was a lot of work - may have just been worth it to buy the $10/pound bags.

The almond meal is for a large batch of macarons.
