  1. Antony V's in the Avenue of the flowers plaza on Longboat Key was not bad if memory serves correctly. The publix in that centre has a pretty good selection of wine too.

    1. This is about 5 minutes from the Airport right by the interstate.

Just remember it's one exit north of the airport--otherwise you're over the big bridge and it's a long way back. When you get off at Dale Mabry, take the west bound exit. Slight right and go into the big shopping area on the left. it's right at the entrance. There's a decent Whole Foods there as well with not bad wine selection either. Good luck. And enjoy.

      2. Total Wine and More is a huge warehouse-like operation that has opened several outlets in the bay area. I'd take rhnault's advice and go to the one near the airport on Dale Mabry. The expressway and airport authorities have completely revamped the traffic pattern, getting out of the airport. I'm not sure I understand phylrose's directions (though I do not doubt them), but perhaps an easier (although lengthier) way is to follow the traffic signs out of the airport to get yourself onto I-275 (i.e., the east-west expressway that becomes I-4) and then exit at Dale Mabry going north. Total Wine is on the west (left) side of Dale Mabry and cannot be missed. Just go west (left) at the first traffic light you come to. The store is across the street from Wal-Mart.

If you miss that Total Wine, there is another one in Sarasota. Take I-275 (which becomes I-4) east and then, outside of Tampa, turn south onto I-75. Drive 52 miles south and exit at University Parkway, going west (i.e., right, toward the gulf and Longboat Key). About a quarter mile after you have exited I-75 go north (right) at the first traffic light. The Total Wine store is visible from University Parkway.

        1. um, if you're going to longboat the quickest way is down thru st. pete, over the skyway and then once you reach Bradenton, out Manatee Ave to the beach and then head south on the island after the causeway. On Manatee Ave. there is a large ABC liquor store on your right and then at the corner of 75th and Manatee there is Beach Liquors next to the Publix Supermarket.. I would avoid buying booze on the island as the prices are somewhat higher.
