Has anyone every tried this place? Hubby and I have passed it several times, and always wonder if it's any good.... prices look very reasonable. I've googled it, but can't come up with any reviews....

What do you guys think?

As Burt Bacharach might say: "Walk on by." If you want Italian in that area, there is far better to be had just past the other end of Abbott Kinney on Main at Ado.

There's never anyone in there. I ate there once several years ago. There's something to be said maybe for a restaurant on Abbot Kinney where you can go with no rezie and have no wait? (Although I'd rather get a slice from across the street.)

Haven't been there in several years (I live on the east side) but used to be a pretty big fan. The place had its own unique vibe: very attentive quirky owner greets you at the door, open kitchen policy invites you to go in and chat with the chef, etc. And I always remember their stellar pumpkin ravioli with sage butter as they best I've ever had. But can't vouch for how they're holding up these days. Basically, I see them as an old neighborhood favorite withstanding the sea of change around them. But for all I know, the sea may be about to swallow them?

I ate there two weeks ago after driving by for many years AK was closed and Gjelina was full. Food was OK but not memorable and dughnutz observation that being able to walk in w/o a reservation was nice for an Abbott Kinney restaurant. Friendly service, but chair back are too "springy" and don't support your back, making you feel like you're going to fall backwards.
