      Hey guys,
we went to Catch on Saturday night. And it was wonderful !! Had some lobsters and sea bass accompanied by a newly launched Italian white.. Was great ! Wish we had reached a bit earlier to soak in the awesome ocean view ! we wasted the perfect seating by the window as it was already dark ! Nevertheless, it was a great night ! Thanks all of you !

      casa del mar is nice

if you want a few blocks, go to michaels

or the huntley - food is ok but view is killer

sunset in zuma beach is a long drive but pretty if you get there as sun is setting...

michaels is not on the beach--it's not even on the water.

for waterside, but not beachside, my to-go place is cafe del rey in marina del rey. lovely view of the boats in the marina, lovely room, lovely service, lovely food, solid wine list, and , for fine dining, reasonable prices

The Penthouse at the Huntely DOES have an amazing view!! However, just in my opinion they are not quite as consistent service wise and food wise as the Catch. The food at the Catch is just really excellent and fresh and well prepared and a good wine list too. And just one thing to consider, the Penthouse can turn into a bit more of a trendy lounge atmosphere a little later at night (esp Saturday) so keep that in mind if you want to linger after dinner. Or maybe go here for drinks afterwards!

Happy birthday to your wife tonight! I hope you two have a really special night wherever you go!

Good, even decent, food and beachside is a hard combo to come by -- even in seaside Los Angeles.

One Pico at Shutters in Santa Monica is probably your best bet.

Very nice, and quite romantic ... esp. after the remodel.

I must disagree about One Pico. IMHO it is vastly inferior to the restaurant across the street at the Casa del Mar Hotel. All our meals there have been excellent, while One Pico has been just ho-hum.

YES! Is it the Catch at Casa del Mar? Food is amazing and they have excellent service!

You bet it is Catch (prior to the remodel it was Oceanfront). And they are both owned by the same owner. At Catch ask to be seated in Ramsey's or Peter's section. Excellent waiters.

Catch is one of my favorite restaurants, and has the best view, a gorgeous room. Jeff is a great waiter, too - tell any of them that we sent you :D
