A Replacement for Boccaccio's?

FoiGras Jul 9, 2009 04:18 PM

Is there a new restaurant in Boccaccio's former location? It was a lovely restaurant. Would love to see an excellent, upscale dining establishment, which would feature exquisite Italian food that would shut up the Chowhounds from whining about the red-sauce Little Italy offerings. FoiGras

I have never been a fan of Bocaccio. I must admit that on an earlier visit several years ago it suffered from my comparison to both Maestro and Laboratorio which I felt were America's two best Italian restaurants. As for "red sauce" I once wrote this about Chef Vola's in Atlantic City: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/473826

I wouldn't even mention Bocaccio in the same sentence.

Much of the Bocaccio crew is now at La Famiglia, near the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus (where Brasserie Tatin was, and before that Jeannier's). I haven't been there yet, so I can't report on the food.

FoiGras, if you're going to rag on others for whining about red-sauce Litte Italy places, perhaps you should cut down a bit on the whining about Cinghiale. :-)
