MSP: Rustica Moving
Oh crap. This is steps from one of my regular bike routes. I'm screwed.
Everyone at the office will make fun of me for coming back in my cycling gear covered in powdered sugar from the bostok and flakes from the kouign amann.

I'm also scared since I live in St Louis Park...and it will be very tempting. MSPD, can you post a photo of yourself in the described attire?

re: faith
Faith, this is a forum about helping people's appetites, not destroying them!
(This is the only one I've got at the moment. I'm the guy without the beard. MS TRAM, Akeley rest stop in 2007)
And, back to the topic at hand, I hope they follow through on maintaining a presence at the 46th and Bryant location. I kind of like the "smallness" of that location too.

re: MSPD
Thanks for clarifying which guy you are in the picture mspd- that beard would look pretty funny covered with powdered sugar. So, if Rustica keeps the retail presence and opens the Calhoun Plaza place, will it then be.......................A CHAIN??? Horreurs, we won't be able to talk about it on this board!

I am so happy! I love that I can just hop on the path, avoiding all the crazy traffic and ding-dongs who never 'see' pedestrians or bikes. I've been wondering who would fill the space Calhoun Diner left behind.
Kind of a bummer for Little Tel-Aviv, though.

re: bob s
I wouldn't say it would affect Little Tel Aviv much, since a large portion of their business stems from their kosher certification., and those people will not be eating at Rustica (so sad that they are not kosher, because their challah is AWESOME!). In my opinion, LTA's food is not so good (impressively underseasoned, overpriced, unimaginative), and the only real reason to go there is if you need to eat kosher.

re: cheeseguysgirl
100% shiksa here, but I go to Little Tel-Aviv for coffee and dessert. I see other folks doing the same. Hence my original thought of "bummer for Little Tel-Aviv."
From Rustica's website: "The Calhoun Village Rustica will feature an exciting new twist. We are pleased to offer Bull Run Roasting's coffee. It is a local coffee roaster that is owned by Greg Hoyt. Bull Run wants to bring an experience that highlights the tastes and nuances of coffee through unique origins and single cup brewing. Coffee does not have to be treated as a commodity. It has a story and complexity that I hope you will appreciate. We are also continuing our relationship with Corner Table restaurant. Scott Pampuch is working on a menu that will add to our current savory line." http://www.rusticabakery.com/news.php
Man, oh man I am starting to really like my neighborhood where so many things are walking distance.
