I'm thinking about revisiting Riva Cucina tonight, but it's been awhile since I've been, and the most recent post on this board is a few months old...any recent experiences or recommendations?

I like the antipasto platter, enough for 2.
    ANTIPASTO MISTO
Housemade braised balsamic sausage bruschetta, Wilgenberger green and red tomato bruschetta, assortment of cheeses, salame and olives, grilled artichokes and bell peppers

If risotto is on the menu, order it. They only make it when they are not too busy, so they can devote the proper amount of time/attention to it. Last time I was in, they were doing a porcini risotto--best risotto I've ever had in a restaurant. Any of the handmade pastas are where they really shine as well. Also, since it is summer and the tomatoes are likely to be fantastic, the panzanella should be great. And as Wolfe suggests, the antipasto is excellent, and I've found it to be a huge amount, even better when shared with three or four!

        Altruist, two is enough.

Hey, sharing with even more people just meant we all had room for our own salads--also generously proportioned--and the pasta dishes, and dessert. But to each her own!

        Did you go?

A note to people shopping at the new Berkeley Bowl West, Riva Cucina is just down the street and has really pleasant seating in an outdoor plaza. In addition to dinner, they are open for lunch Tues-Fri 11:30 - 2:30
