Ever eaten at Seafood Sams?

I'm going to the Cape in a few weeks. I have a friend who goes to the same area I go to (Dennisport). She always goes on and on about the fried clams at Seafood Sams.

Frankly, I don't know whether or not I want to believe her. She's not chowish. So I'm throwing this out to you guys.

What do you think of Seafood Sams?

  1. I have seen responders agree with your friend, but my opinion is that Seafood Sam's (a small local chain) is average, at best. Of are the prices. Your call as to whether it's a good deal.

    1. Eh, the only thing their clams have over other's is the price. I think the luncheon plate of fried whole clams is only $8.99, far cheaper than anywhere else. But it IS a classic case of "you get what you pay for". Not good.

Mom's neighbor loves SS and drags Mom there must to her chagrin. Yesterday they went to Kreme Kone which Mom much prefers.

      2. Eat there all of the time (Falmouth). Family-owned, fresh, basic seafood, good value, IMHO. Families/guests usually like it.

          1. Average at best. Try Kate's or JT's for better food and ambiance - both are just a short ride from D'port on 6A in Brewster

It would actually be closer to drive up 28 into Hyannis and eat at Cooke's. Maybe the best fried food on Cape. No ambiance whatsoever though.

Not a timely response, but Cooke's is better than SFS's; better still, IMHO is Jerry's on Rte. 28 in Yarmouth (more old school fried seafood than Cooke's), but the quality of the clams, fries, and onion rings is superior to SFS's. Alas, Jerry is no longer with us, but the quality of his food continues.

Went to SFS's in Sandwich over the summer. Cooke's is definitely better in Hyannis, haven't been to any others.
