Philly locals on new Top Chef

Jennifer Carroll of 10 Arts by Eric Ripert at the Ritz-Carlton and Jennifer Zavala of El Camino Real will appear on the sixth season of Bravo's "Top Chef," which premieres Aug. 26.

Nice to see some local representation!

Based on what I had at their restaurants, I'd expect Carroll to outlast Zavala.

I wonder if Eric Ripert will be a guest judge this season, since Carroll works for him?

But they always keep around a good looking woman until the mid-end of the show. I think Carroll can win. Daniel Boulud has been a judge when some of his employees have been on the show. Eric Ripert is awesome.

Rumor has it, in the business, that Carroll makes it to the top three.

I've never been to 10 Arts but the food at El Camino Real is mediocre at best and poor at worst. Although this probably has more to do with the kitchen staff's execution (they are always very busy) than the chef's personal chops.

The owner of Alma de Cuba was just on Top Chef Masters so that was fun to see another local restaurant represented as well.

I never think of DouglasRodriguez as a local chef -- we first ate at Yucca, his restaurant in CoralGables, FL. Isn't Alma de Cuba really part of Stephen Starr's group? With Rodriguez s the opening chef?

FWIW.. Doug Rodriquez's Alma is part of the Stephen Starr group of restaurants... and the dish Rodriguez did on the show was a play on one of the dishes on the menu at Alma.. "Fire and Ice"..
