We are visiting the inlaws. Any recs for sushi? Or anything else not to miss. We get a night out with out the kids and love all types of food.

Sushi Yama on 3rd Avenue in the old Arctic Circle building is wonderful. It is not open on Wednesdays because the owner is picking up fish in Seattle.

Also, Ginger on Grand Avenue is very good. Its menu has more variety as well.

Anyone know how this one compares to the original on Airway Heights? Baek Chun-Sushi Yama? Is this location similar to the one on Airway Heights in terms of Seattle run Wed for fish?

Yes, it is the same, they have expanded from Airway Heights to Downtown.

We went for dinner tonight and have to give it 2 thumbs down. The waitress was really friendly and said that we would have to wait awhile for our sushi...but 2 hours was really long for very mediocre sushi. The place was packed, probably because of the review in the newspaper, but the rolls hardly had any fish in them. One of the "spicy" tuna rolls actually was all rice. We also had the seaweed salad which was good, but the albacore sonomo was really bad. It was like mushy pickles with a small amount of fish on top. Many people recommended this place so we were really bummed to find it so bad.

Was visiting Spokane from Seattle over the weekend and my parents and I tried Sushi Yama and were not impressed. There were some folks that arrived immediately after us that appeared to be regulars and they were very obviously given preferential treatment. The waitress took their order before ours, and they received their entire meal before we received our any of our entrees. The food passes for okay for Spokane, but they'd never get rave reviews in a larger city with more sushi restaurants. I ordered a Korean hotpot dish and it had no more than 5 small (quarter-size) pieces of beef in the whole dish. We're always looking for good new places to eat when I visit, so it was disappointing. My Japanese mother prefers Sushi.com.
