Suggestions for group dinner in Philadelphia

I'm traveling to Philadelphia July 20-24 for work, and would love suggestions for a great restaurant. I'm getting together about 10 of my colleagues for dinner.

Thanks for any advice you can provide!

  1. For a great experience, go to Amada for the roasted suckling pig. It has to be preordered a few days in advance and you have to have a minimum of 4 people. The price is only $32/per person and you get 4 side dishes with it.

    1. What price range? What location? Is BYOB okay or do you want a place with a bar?
Give us a little more info and we'll try to help.

for price, I'm thinking $35-$50. BYOB v. bar doesn't matter (BYOB is a foreign concept to me!) Otherwise, completely flexible. We're staying near the Convention Center but don't want that to limit our choices.
        Thank you!

      2. I agree Amada is always a good choice. I also like Buddakan and Zahav for group dining.

        1. Bar Ferdinand if you are looking for tapas. However I would recommend one of our wonderful Italian BYOs. Branzino on 16th street is perfect for a large group.

          1. I agree with Jo, Branzino would be perfect for a large group. Lovely ambience, many menu options, everything very good.

Not everyone loves tapas, so it might be better to choose a place where everyone can order what he/she wants.

If you don't want a BYOB, you might consider Fork, at 3rd and Market. They have a new chef, and he is excellent. We've been there twice recently and were very pleased. (They also have a drink called the Whippet - vodka, grapefruit juice, lime juice, mint - that I love.)

If you do go for the tapas, I would pile everyone in cabs and go to Bar Ferdinand. Casual, comfortable, and so good!
