Normany in August

We are headed to Normandy in August and will be staying in a rental outside Caen.

Please share with me your thoughts on where to eat and what to eat when we arrive there.

I am also interested in advice on dishes we might prepare at the rental. We will have several handy cooks.

Last, any special advice on small children and food in France is very welcome. We are wondering - what will they eat and where will they eat it?
