Fresh, healthy takeout food in Oxnard

We've just moved to Oxnard. Usually we have takeout at twice a week.

We're looking for places that offer fresh, healthy food for takeout. We like all types of cuisine and would prefer meals under $12.

Thanks for your help to a couple of Oxnard newbies!

  1. There is a little place in downtown Oxnard located in the old Woolworth Building on the corner of 4th Street and A St. which might be what you are looking for. It is called Fresh and Fabulous The owner is a registered dietician and she prepares wonderful salads, sandwiches and delicious soups, as well as various cookies and baked goods. You can sign up online to receive weekly menu updates and specials. You can eat there or call your order in for pick up. They do a very good job. Other than that, there isn't much to recommend for healthy take-out in Oxnard.

      Hi Mary,
      That's great. Any idea what their hours are?

        I glanced at their website and didn't see any hours listed. I know they are closed Sundays. You should call and check on the hours. Sorry I can't be of more help, hope you will give it a try.

    2. I worked in Oxnard for a number of years. Usually went to Camarillo for lunch, but, let's see.......

      There's a pretty good seafood place on Oxnard Blvd called Hook Line & Sinker;
      I hear there's a new Waba Grill (teriyaki) place in Oxnard;
      And, of course, though they are chains, there's always Panda Express and Chick-Fil-A on Rose. Also a chain (though sort of a local one) is the Habit, which is good for burgers, but also some healthier sandwiches and salads; they're in the Financial Center, with Baja Fresh. And if you ever want an UNhealthy burger, there's always the In-n-out in the Esplanade.

        We'll definitely try Hook, Line & Sinker. And, every once in awhile we can't resist an In-N-Out burger. Thanks a lot!

          For "fast food" / take out that's healthy, I LOVE the BBQ chicken salad from The Habit and was hooked on their ahi burger as well. Since you like In & Out, try The Habit's burger too as mentioned above.
