Any good suggestions for a home based dinner place in Iowa City? Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly. If you want to eat in someone's home I don't have any suggestion. For "homey" food I would recommend the Bluebird Diner, or Augusta (in Oxford). For take out I would recommend New Pioneer Coop; they have hot table food as well as salads and sandwiches. If you clarify I might be able to help more.

Augusta is well worth the drive to Oxford (take I-80 west from Iowa City). The restaurant has a web site. The owners are Katrina refugees and do New Orleans-type food incl. great lunch po-boys. Sunday brunch is also great.
For something different, David's on Washington and Linn St. has Ethiopian food. I also like Exotic India on the Coralville Strip.

I don't think the "in home" restaurant thing has happened yet in Iowa City. But there are quite a few great restaurants to go to in downtown IC: Bluebird Diner, Motley Cow, 126. For lunch or carry out, I'd suggest Leaf Kitchen. The New Pioneer food can be hit or miss.
