Restaurant recommendation needed

Will be staying at the Renaissance Chicago on West Wacker Drive soon and need a nearby restaurant recommendation. Looking for a fun, trendy place with great food. TIA.

  1. You are in a great location for hitting up the Loop, River North and other areas, so it just depends on what you want. Check out Mercat on Michigan for great Tapas, Topolobampo or Nah for great food from some chefs with a great reputation. Just a couple ideas off the cuff. Can you give us a little more to go on?

I bet you meant Naha instead of Nah.

Chargenda is right, teamej. Chicago is a food town with far too many really great restaurants to name.
What is most important to you: the fun part, the trendy part or the great food part?
Also, are there types of food you do or do not especially like?
And can you give us an idea of your budget?
Are you talking about dinner or breakfast and lunch also?

Hello guys, this is my first time posting here, i was reading this and i'm actually hitting Chicago next week on Friday. We will probably go to downtown Chicago and the surrounding area. Is there a good place around the area to eat? any street vendors or quick foods? what about pizza places? I just dont think i will have enough time to go to a restaurant since we are a group of 8 and they might not want to go, unless is a really good one so i can convince them. Also, i'm looking for something around $20pp or so. Thank you.

Pizza and fun area, go WEST to Piece pizza. Large group friendly, good beer(brewery), great pizza. Not pan/deep dish style but really good thin pizza. Perfect for a group of 8. Good bars, atmosphere, parks and music around there, (Damon/Milwaukee/North avenues)

Dinner. Great food most important. Open to any type of cuisine except sushi (pregnant guest). Price not really an object. I've heard good things about Topolobampo.

Topo is great for Mexican . . . you can't go wrong.

Just an FYI that Mercat is likely going to be closing for a couple of weeks to replace their floors, so call ahead if you plan to go.

        4. Alanchow - depending on the number of people in a group, try Quartino's at 626 N. State (4-5 bl north of the river). It's a good, friendly, happy place, with very decent Italian food. Right about your price range, too.
