MC perkins cove

Wonderful lunch for 4 yesterday. We had the fish taco, fish and chips, and humus sampler all done to perfection with ample lunch portions. Nice selection of beer and wine by the glass. Service was good, could be a little more attentive as the dining room got busy. All in all, a good value, great view and very high quality.

What is "MC" and where is Perkins Cove? Lately there have been posts where one has to use Google and work to figure out what and where New Englander Chowhounders are talking about.
Please be considerate to us foreigners who don't know NE by putting something in the post's title or body that gives us the location.

"MC Perkins Cove" is in Perkins Cove, which is in Ogunquit Maine. The MC stands for Mark and Clarke, the owners, who also own Arrows restaurant in Ogunquit- very fancy and famous. MC ismore casual. It has a wonderful view of the ocean.

If you stop there be sure to ask to see the bar menu which has some great choices (and cheaper) than the regular menu-e.g. fish tacos (great), fish and chips etc. They don't offer you the bar menu in the dining room but you can order off of it - just need to ask.

We had dinner there on 7/5 with a one and 1/2 year old. We sat upstairs in front of the window and it was wonderful. My husband has the lobster mac and cheese and I had the cod on the cedar plank. Our son was greeted right away with a big bowl of fries and thought they were the best ever!! It was a great night!

On another note: Here is a mini trip report on where we ate last week.
Stopped at Fox's Lobster for a lobster roll and then on to Browns for ice cream. Best ice cream all week.
Monday we went to Cafe Preggo for dinner and we keep saying it may be the best meal we had all week. We split the lobster pizza and was worth the $21.00.

Two lunches at Barnacle Billys , both were good. Monday we had steamers and Wednesday it was raining so we went to BB etc and sat by the windows and enjoyed a very good lobster. Had great service that day.

Tuesday we headed to Kennebunkport and stopped for clams at the clam shack and a late lunch at Mabel's. My husband had the mussels and I had a lobster roll. Love the cole slaw. The three of us enjoyed the blueberry pie while watching the rain come down.

Wednesday we had dinner at out hotel the Anchorage by the Sea. It was raining and they have a tented restaurant by the pool with live entertainment. It was good.

Thursday we had dinner at Five O, I will just say that it was ok. Would not return

Friday dinner. We wanted lobster and wanted to sit outside by the water and decided to try Jackie Two's. Again it was ok, lobster was very watery.

Let me know if you have any questions. We really enjoyed our week and we already booked for next year!!

          great trip report!
We also found Jackie's just o.k.
Last year we flew into Prego to pick up coffee for our trip home and decided it looked so cool we would have to go back this year. Glad to hear the food is good.
Looking forward to MC....will definitely try the lobster mac and cheese.
sounds like you made the best of the lousy weather.

The mac and cheese had about a pound of lobster in it.

Rained two days and the rest of the week 80 and sunny. Cam home with a nice tan.

I wish I was there right now.

Last time I had it, I believe it was just a very nice cheddar which played second fiddle to all of buttery lobster. They may have changed it though. Their website would say I'm sure.

We just had lunch at the bar the other day. Food & service were both excellent. Tried the tuna tartar (fresh tuna sliced razor thin with a drizzle of green sauce that may have had a hint of mustard or curry), fresh haddock fish and chip served with an excellent ranch sauce and another green sauce that tasted like a zippy garlicky pesto . . . drinks were good, (try the house made blueberry martini). All and all a great meal!

We also went there for lunch the other day. My second time and I thought it was great both times.

Thumbs up on the tuna tartar and the fish and chips. Not sure what their secret to frying is, but they definitely have it down. Fish was really crusty and crispy and not the slightest bit greasy.

BTW, our two kids were splitting the fish and chips. The waitress said they'd split it in the kitchen. Each split portion must have been almost as large as a normal one.

Also had the fish tacos, which were also awesome. Everything there seems to be super fresh.

Fried calamari were also excellent. Only minor complaint is that they could have used a bit more salt.

I think they use panko for the breading on the fish & chips.

I think the dish that you and Bewley had was tuna carpaccio, not tartar. We were there Tuesday and had the tuna carpaccio, which was sliced ultra thin s described.
Yes, they will serve you anything from the bar menu at the tables.Try the cheddar cheese beignets as your evil carbo- they are so delicious.

Yes, you're correct . . . I"m getting a bit muddled with all the rain this month, my brain's filled with spores . . . "Bartender, another martini. Please."

They cater primarily to tourists and locals. I get the impression they would love to have kids and families.

When we were there this week there were kids at several tables. I would say that kids 8-15 is especially ok (vs. toddlers).

Our family plans to celebrate my husband's 50th at MC. For me, the bar menu looks much more interesting. Will they offer it in the dining room? We will be there for dinner.
